9A take out Elk River with help from Hunter Hake, 10-6

9A beat Elk River 10-6 in seven innings on Thursday at Blaine High School behind Hunter Hake, who went 2-2.

He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

Derek Heldman recorded the win for 9A. He allowed four runs over five innings. Heldman struck out one, walked one and gave up seven hits.

The top of the second saw Elk River take an early lead, 2-0. Elk River's rally started when Kozika singled. A few plays later, Hund stole home. More runs came home for Elk River when Palm scored on a groundout by Enkhaus.

After posting two runs in the third, Elk River again scored two in the seventh. In the third, Elk River scored on an RBI single by Hund, scoring Shenkle.

9A brought home two runs in the fourth inning, and matched that run total in the Sixth. In the fourth, 9A scored on an error, plating Hake.

9A didn't relinquish the lead after scoring five runs in the fifth inning when it scored on two singles.

9A built upon its lead with two runs in the sixth. The inning looked promising, as Trey Ferdig singled, bringing home Alex Byers to kick things off.
