Two Pitchers Team Up As Bengals 9A Defeats Duluth East In Shut-Out

Bengals 9A defeated Duluth East 12-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Garrett Helmeke induced a groundout from Sampson to finish off the game.

Bengals 9A got things started in the first inning when Damon Thoemke singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Bengals 9A tallied five runs in the second inning. Bengals 9A scored its runs on an RBI stolen base by Nate Jacobson.

A single by Manvhester in the first inning was a positive for Duluth East.

Joe Beckman pitched Bengals 9A to victory. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two. Helmeke threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Hudoba took the loss for Duluth East. He lasted four innings, allowing 12 hits and 12 runs while striking out five.

Bengals 9A tallied 12 hits. Hayden MrosThoemke, and AJ Kaul each had multiple hits for Bengals 9AMros went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Bengals 9A in hits. Bengals 9A stole seven bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Logan Karnowski led the way with two. Bengals 9A was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Thoemke made the most plays with six.

Manvhester led Duluth East with one hit in two at bats.
