Despite hit advantage, 9A drops 3-2 game to Maple Grove

9A lost 3-2 in seven innings at Maple Grove HS on Tuesday, despite outhitting Maple Grove nine to five.

Aaron Hamby got on base three times in the game for 9A. He singled in the third and fifth innings.

Maple Grove couldn't get anything going so long as Trey Ferdig was on the hill. Ferdig gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 3 2/3 innings of work.

Alex Byers was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed three runs.

Maple Grove went up for good in the first, scoring two runs on an error.

After pushing across one run in the top of the sixth, 9A faced just a 3-1 deficit. An RBI single by Joe Daninger gave 9A life. Finally, Hanson induced an inning-ending strike out from Derek Heldman.

One run in the top of the seventh helped 9A close its deficit to 3-2. An RBI single by Michael Pardo fueled 9A's comeback. The game went final when Brady O'Loughlin flew out.
